Cover Your Bases
Sometime in mid-July my mind starts turning to fall fashion. If you’re looking to take your style to the next level (re: investments), here’s some of my suggestions:
1. High Quality Denim $$$ As a fashion designer working in the denim market, I can tell you that most jeans cost about $12 to produce. That’s for the bare bones sewing and hardware. However, premium denim uses better quality fabrics (premium cotton) and are better designed to fit your body. Buy a dark wash and a boot cut. If you’re unsure on your size, take at least 3 of each size to the dressing room with you (mass produced garments WILL vary, even on the same size). Expect to spend between $100 and $250.
My favorite brands: Joe’s Jeans and Acne.
speaking of premium denim…i feel like every pair of jeans i ever buy stretch out in the butt after a few hours/day of wearing them. even my sevens, but especially cheaper jeans. does anybody know of any brands that don’t have this problem???
i have this problem, and recommend buying the tightest pair that still fit in the store. then i bring them home, leave the tags on them, and lounge around—if they stretch out to non-hoochie-mama proportions, i clip the tags and keep em. if they’re still skintight after a few hours, i take ‘em back and try another.
