Google is taking the wiki to its next iteration with Knols, which are “authoritative article about a specific topic” that also have their author’s name associated with it.  Like a wiki, any reader can make edits; unlike a wiki, they have to gain the author’s approval before they are published.  It’s in Beta now, but it’s pretty neat! 3 weeks ago
